Senior mining and manufacturing executive Emma King has been endorsed as the Shortland Liberal candidate, campaigning to deliver a better deal for local families struggling to make ends meet as the Labor cost of living crisis rages out of control.
Proud Eleebana mum, Emma has been raising a young family with her husband and has been deeply invested in the community’s future, “we have experienced first-hand the opportunities and challenges that come with living, working, and raising a family in this vibrant community”.
Emma knows how tough local families are doing it, with local charities flooded by calls for help from people struggling to pay their rents and mortgages as well as their skyrocketing food, energy and insurance bills.
“Labor has failed our community, with their promises amounting to nothing. Prime Minister Albanese had promised cheaper mortgages, but an interest bill for a typical mortgage has risen $50,000 since the election instead; and he promised that by 2025, household energy bills would be reduced by $275 – instead everyone is paying hundreds of dollars more.”
“My career has given me insight into the importance of strong economic policies for growing local industry and job creation, and my husband’s small business has provided me with great motivation to fight for other local small businesses in our region,” Ms King said.
“The Liberal team is focused on delivery of more infrastructure and housing, and fighting inflation that has left family budgets decimated. As part of the Dutton Liberal team, I will be a strong voice for Shortland, bringing real-world experience, a proven strong work ethic and passion to give back to the community.”
“The Liberals will get Australia back on track, delivering low inflation, cheaper energy, affordable homes and a safer community,” Ms King concluded.
