NSW Liberal Party candidates welcomed the protection offered to Lizard Rock by a re-elected Perrottet Liberal Government.
Minister for Planning, the Hon Anthony Roberts MP, said that concerns raised by the community in relation to bushfires, critical infrastructure and density mean that a re-elected Perrottet Liberal Government will not allow the rezoning application to proceed.
“As Minister for Planning I have always advocated for the right developments in the right place with community support, particularly in keeping with local character,” Mr Roberts said.
Liberal candidate for Pittwater, Rory Amon, welcomed the decision that local candidates had been advocating for together with the community.
“I have stood with the community advocating against this development. This is a great outcome that protects pristine bushland for future generations,” said Mr Amon.
Liberal candidate for Wakehurst, Toby Williams, said the commitment by the Perrottet Government to help protect this important part of the Northern Beaches.
“I have been totally opposed to this development. This bushland and ecosystem are precious to our community and to all of New South Wales,” Mr Williams said.
Liberal candidate for Davidson, Matt Cross, the local community support for Lizard Rock has been critical to successfully getting this outcome.
“We are listening to our community, and taking action to make sure that any development is appropriate and fits with the community’s needs and local character. This is a great outcome for our community delivered by the Perrottet Liberal Government.”
Liberal Member for Manly, James Griffin MP, said the Government’s long term plan has been a key part of empowering the Northern Beaches community and communities across the state.
“The Perrottet Liberal Government has a strong record of conservation and protecting our green open spaces on the Northern Beaches. Development must be appropriate and done with neighbours in mind.”
