An elected Dutton Liberal Government will commit $650,000 to upgrade the Ilinden Sports Centre in Rockdale – home of the Rockdale Ilinden Football Club.

The upgrades will include the construction of a female amenities building as well as the rectification of existing electrical issues, the installation of security lighting, replacement of a digital scoreboard and the construction of a permanent viewing platform.

Liberal candidate for Kingsford Smith, Brad Cole, said this is a significant investment that will ensure the facilities at Ilinden Sports Centre are fit for purpose and can serve the growing local football community in the southern suburbs of Sydney.

“Rockdale Ilinden FC pride themselves on their rich heritage, their commitment to excellence and the development of players at all levels,” Mr Cole said.

“This commitment will open a new chapter for Rockdale Ilinden FC and support grassroots participation, community cohesion, and safer facilities for all users.”

Fiona Douskou, Liberal Candidate for Barton, said the investment was long overdue and reflects the shared passion of the community for football and inclusive sport.

“These improvements will ensure women and girls have the facilities they deserve and make Rockdale Ilinden FC a better, more inclusive club for everyone,” Ms Douskou said.

Both candidates highlighted the club’s important role as a cultural and sporting cornerstone in the region and reaffirmed the Liberals’ commitment to backing community sport and infrastructure projects.

This commitment is part of the Liberals’ plan to get Australia back on track.
