Labor is afraid of any scrutiny into the CFMEU/Cbus cartel.
Once again, Labor has blocked the referral of a Bill designed to protect taxpayer funds held by the Housing Australia Future Fund from union corruption to an inquiry.
The CFMEU owns 21% of the Cbus Super Fund. Labor is burying its head in the sand by denying any scrutiny into the CFMEU/Cbus cartel.
There was strong Opposition and Crossbench support for the motion, which was defeated by a single vote.
Labor promised transparency but governs in secret. Now, Labor is trying to obstruct the Senate from scrutinising their favourite vested interests.
Labor’s Housing Minister, Clare O’Neil, claims that she wants to recapture the Australian Dream, but she wants the big super funds to own the dream.
By denying the Senate the opportunity to inquire, Minister O’Neil and Labor have demonstrated their lack of interest in protecting public funds from the CFMEU.
I thank the Senators who voted in favour of scrutiny and transparency.
