100,000 business customers, including taxi owners, will be the first to receive their CTP Green Slip refunds this week, with cheques going out from today.
Last year the NSW Government overhauled the old CTP Green Slip Scheme to create a more affordable, lower cost scheme. In addition to lower premiums in 2018, the Government is providing partial refunds to 4.2 million vehicle owners who paid too much in 2017.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said that the average refund will be $265 for businesses and $1,255 for taxi owners.
“CTP refund cheques are now on their way to thousands of businesses across the state. As a result of the Government’s reforms, $52 million will be returned to business customers, including taxi operators, over the coming weeks,” Mr Dominello said.
Individual policy holders will be able to access their refunds online through Service NSW in the coming months. Sydney drivers, who pay the highest Green Slip prices, will see the largest refunds, at an average of $70 and country drivers will be $30 better off.
The new CTP scheme is delivering significant savings for motorists. The average Sydney Green Slip price this year will be $553 down from $710 last year.
The CTP reforms are one of a raft of NSW Government measures helping to ease cost of living pressures for households. The Government has also introduced free car registration for regular toll users, cheaper hospital car parking and the FuelCheck app.
