Further work on the redevelopment of Manning Base Hospital will be fast-tracked with the NSW Government’s pre-Budget announcement of additional funding for the hospital.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Health Minister Brad Hazzard today announced an extra $20 million in the 2018-19 Budget for the hospital’s redevelopment.
“The Liberals & Nationals Government’s record investment in world-class hospitals and health services right across regional NSW is significantly improving access to quality health care,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“We have doubled our investment for the Manning Base Hospital redevelopment to $40 million so we can deliver for the communities of Taree and the surrounding Manning Valley region.”
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said: “This wonderful upgrade will mean our hardworking doctors and nurses can continue to provide outstanding care to the Taree and Manning Valley communities.”
Mr Hazzard praised the strong advocacy of Mr Bromhead to secure the additional $20 million funding.
“The local member is tireless in his pursuit for funding to improve the facilities and services offered at Manning Base and across the region,” Mr Hazzard said.
“The NSW Government is transforming hospitals in every corner of the state, not only delivering first-class health services to the bush but creating tens of thousands of jobs for regional communities.”
The additional funding will include the fit out of the expanded Medical Imaging Department and new CT, ultrasound and fluoroscopy equipment, as well as improvements to patient waiting areas. Design work will be completed in late 2018 with work starting in the first half of 2019.
